Description
The Electrical Lead is a senior-level industrial electrician responsible for leading the Electrical Construction Team. This role involves planning, estimating, executing, and overseeing electrical work, while building and managing a high-performing Electrical Team from the ground up. The Electrical Lead also plays a key role in supporting business development activities, contributing to bids and proposals, and helping to grow the electrical capability of the business.
A key responsibility of the Electrical Lead is the ongoing development and enhancement of EFAB’s electrical programme. This includes the continuous review and refinement of existing processes and procedures to ensure they remain robust, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices. The role demands a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement, implementing innovative solutions, and fostering a culture of operational excellence within the Electrical Team. By driving these improvements, the Electrical Lead plays a critical role in strengthening EFAB’s technical capabilities and supporting the delivery of high-quality, compliant electrical services across all projects.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, and develop a skilled Electrical Engineering Construction Team.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, and supervision to electricians and apprentices.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and support career development.
Planning & Execution
- Develop detailed work plans and schedules for electrical activities.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet project milestones and deadlines.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure timely delivery.
Estimating & Budgeting
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical work including materials, labour, and equipment.
- Assist in tendering and bid preparation for new projects.
- Track actual costs against estimates and report variances.
Technical Oversight
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with industry standards, codes, and client specifications.
- Review and approve electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide technical guidance.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes and legislation.
- Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
Business Development & Bids
- Support the business development team by providing technical input for proposals and tenders.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to showcase electrical capabilities.
- Identify opportunities for growth and innovation within the electrical discipline
- Contribute to strategic planning and development of new service offerings

Technical Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Fully qualified industrial electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- ECS/CSCS card or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in leading electrical teams in industrial or construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and maintenance.
- Experience in estimating, planning, and executing electrical work.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g., BS7671, HSE guidelines).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in building teams from scratch.
- Project management or supervisory certification (e.g., SSSTS, SMSTS).
- Proficiency in using project planning tools and electrical design software.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
